Cod goujon baguette
This was underwhelming compared with the stronger dishes. It did the job, but it is not something we would particularly rush back to order.

Food and Drink in Westward Ho!
✓ Wetsuit suitable
A popular beachside pub with a broad menu, substantial portions and practical facilities for families, groups and dogs.
The Waterfront Inn is popular largely because of its location and substantial menu. It sits near the colourful cottages, next to the main car park and close to the beach, making it an easy meeting point before or after a surf.
The menu covers all the pub classics and the portions are substantial. We would not describe it as cheap, but the prices feel suitable for the location and what you get. It is particularly useful when a group wants plenty of choice or you need something filling between surf sessions.
Overall, we like coming here because it is dog friendly, wetsuit suitable and has plenty of outdoor seating. The front deck, beer garden and terraces make it easy to settle in with dogs, surf gear or a larger group without feeling in the way.
There is also bed and breakfast accommodation at The Waterfront Inn for visitors who want to stay beside the village and beach.
From the menu
The menu is broad and built around familiar pub food, with portions that should satisfy anyone coming in hungry after the beach.

The burgers are standard pub burgers. Nothing to write home about, but they do the job when you want something familiar and filling.

A lighter lunch option with a generous prawn topping and side salad.

These were a real surprise and absolutely lovely. Loaded fries can feel like a bit of a fad and are not usually a favourite, but these were genuinely good, with the dill in the sauce working particularly well.

A good version rather than anything unusual, served with a nice warm baguette. It was exactly right for a lighter meal between surf sessions.
A drink outside
The Waterfront has huts with heaters out front, as well as the deck, beer garden and terraces. They make it a practical place to stop for a drink when you want to stay outside but the weather is cooler or changeable.

The Waterfront Inn is on Golf Links Road, Westward Ho!, Devon EX39 1LH, beside the beach and close to the village centre.
