✓ Wetsuit suitable
A relaxed beachside brunch spot with friendly service, reliable coffee and one of the easiest locations in Westward Ho! for surfers, dog walkers and families.
Cabana sits on Westbourne Terrace, in close proximity to the Westward Ho! slipway, making it one of the closest places to the sand for breakfast or lunch. It has a rustic, informal feel. You can head there in beachwear, with a dog in tow or still only half dry after a surf, without feeling out of place.
Cabana is our favourite brunch spot in Westward Ho! because it gets the basics right while also being in a brilliant spot. The full English is a particularly strong choice, made with good-quality ingredients and with every element well done. Even the mushrooms were excellent, and mushrooms are not usually a favourite. The sourdough toast is another welcome detail that lifts it above the standard café breakfast. The food arrives hot, the coffee is consistently good, the queue moves quickly and the staff are always welcoming.
There is a real community feel here. You will usually see a mix of dog walkers, families on holiday, beachgoers and locals grabbing coffee or breakfast. There is covered seating when the weather is less kind, plus open seating for sunny days.
It is casual rather than polished, but that is exactly the point. If you have spent the morning in the sea, are carrying beach gear or simply want a sit down meal without changing out of your shorts, Cabana makes total sense.
Covered and casual
Cabana has a covered outdoor seating area with plenty of tables, making it a practical stop when the weather is changeable or you are arriving with family, friends, dogs or beach gear.
We are yet to sample Cabana's lunch menu; however, these are our current breakfast picks.

A strong version.
Consistently good coffee and worth stopping for on its own.
Worth a stop on its own
You do not need to be stopping for a full breakfast to make Cabana worthwhile. The coffee is consistently good, and a coffee with a slice of cake makes this an easy standalone stop before the beach, after a walk or whenever you want something quick without ordering a meal.
There is a tempting choice of cakes and traybakes, with the selection changing regularly. It is a good reason to visit even when breakfast is not the plan.
A simple combination Cabana does very well. The reliable coffee and strong cake selection make it worth coming here just for a relaxed drink and something sweet.
The service is a big part of it. Ordering is efficient, the team are friendly and tables are kept clean and available. It feels straightforward and well run, which matters when you are hungry after the beach or trying to fit food around a surf.
Cabana is also handy if you want to keep an eye on the waves. It is next to the slipway, close to two car parks and gives you an easier place to leave and keep an eye on surf gear than wandering further into the village.
